Wolverine is awesome. Orange and brown 80's costume is awesome. 90's yellow duds with blue metallic shoulder pads: not awesome.

Snow Beast

Don't know what this lazy ass attempt at a snow monster was supposed to be, but I don't think it came out that well. Bleah, I'll post it anyway.

Inspiration, why hast thou forsaken me?!?

Hey gang- here's a quickie sketch of a vampire getting himself a little midnight snack. Nothing like the holidays to bring out your dark side...

Phoning home

Hey gang--been feeling really under the weather lately, so here's a quickie ET sketch I started this weekend. Don't look at it too hard, or else it will make your head explode with its superhot laserbeams of cuteness.

Mac Attack

Hey, it's my friend Mac, and he's pwning people left and right. Funny thing is, as i was sketching him, I didn't intend it to look like a John K. drawing--this is truly how Mac is--a larger than life personality. (When he sees this, he's either gonna love it, or knee me in the groin.)

Autumn's Back!

Yes, this is my friend/co-worker A.R.T, as seen from my cubicle. This looks like a distortion, but this picture is actually anatomically correct.

More digital paintings

Hey again--trying to learn how to paint digitally. Trying a few different things here, a very heavy stroke brushy look, similar to how i used to paint with acrylic, and a more light grey look. I spent about 20 minutes on each of these.

Hey gang. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! Behold-my second digital painting! As you may have guessed looking through my artwork, I prefer flat graphic images, but I am very influenced by my friends who are all wicked good at doing digital paintings. I wanted to try it for myself, and here's the fruits of about an hour of trial and mostly error...Arrowhead. Can't say I'm 100% into this piece, but I think it was a valiant effort. Mainly just trying out how to work digitally. It's got a lot of ease to it--no mixing paint, but it gets muddy quickly, which is hard to control. Anyway, enough yakkin. Leave some comments--let me know what you think of this.

Jeff's Myspace series #1

Betcha had to look and see who drew this. I wanted to draw in a totally new style just to see if I could. This pic is based on a goofy pic i came across on Myspace. Myspace is brimming with weird and wonderful faces that are just begging to be drawn. So, here's the first in a series of doodles based on random myspace photos. Let me know what you think.

Muffin Top

Quick memory sketch of a guy we saw outside Neopets. What a loser.

Stalking is fun!

Hey kids-here's a creepy guy staring at women we saw at lunch. I made mine a little bit more of a conceptual piece. (read: I'm lazy) Plus, i felt like drawing some ghetto booty.

Rumm Rumm!

(Going to burn for this one.) REALLY ugly woman in a wheelchair we saw today for our memory sketch. I'm trying to evolve my cartooning-to simplify the drawing as much as i can--minimal color palate, simple shapes. Let me know what you think.

Don't ask.

Hey gang. Today's sketch is an Asian kid riding in a baby head. Why? Who knows.

Tater Jones and Tater Tot

No, it's not poop. It's Tater Jones, a happy potato and his singing son. (Don't ask) This one's for you, NT.

New Fashion Craze: Dogs on Shoulders

Yes, folks-we really saw this at lunch today. A heavyset woman carrying her pooch on her shoulder. Anyway, hope you like.

Crazy Panda

Crazy panda loves you!

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Spent about 5 seconds on this, but my friend and co-worker Autumn and I were just speculating what a Stormtooper turned Sith would look like. This is what I pictured. Hope ya like!

Purple Lady

My first memory sketch in a long while. God, I'm rusty. Didn't have a whole lot of time for this one, so this drawing took about 5 minutes. Tried to make it as graphic as I could...hope you like!

Back from Europe!

Wow-what a vacation! I had an amazing time. All together, my friends Joseph, Anna and I saw 10 countries. (France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, and Belgium.) I took over 1000 pictures while I was there, but I picked 200 of my favorites to post on the internet. You can see them here. Don't expect too many picture postcard images of famous monuments though. There are a few of those, but there are also pics of things you may not expect. Like wacky Euro oddities, strange buildings, and Joseph disturbing physical abnormality that needs to be seen. (Trust me though, you wish you hadn't seen it. :))
Thanks for looking through my photos and please feel free to leave lots of comments. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. Thanks! Take care,
PS. More new art coming soon!

I'm off to Europe

Hey guys-I'll be taking a little time off from work and blogging to go on an exciting trip to Europe. I'll be back in a few weeks with hopefully some cool new sketches to post--take care my friends!

Hair boy

Today's memory sketch...this kid had huge hair. It was pretty impressive. I thought about doing a drawing of him in front of his mirror applying all his hair products, but it would have taken too long, and I was kinda pressed for time. So...hope you like.

You can have her, but it'll cost you...

Hey gang. Today's memory sketch is of this wanna be socialite. Fake tan, bad boob job, over-colored hair. The only thing she didn't have was a pocket size dog. Lame, lame, lame. I don't usually draw girls like this, but i was inspired by some great art I saw at lunchtime.

Na na na na na na na...Batman!

Hey guys- just wrapping up the work week with a super fast Batman. Take it easy!

Road Hog

Memory sketch from lunch. Fat guy on a bike. Need I say more?

Da Da Da Da Dah....

Yep, that's the Superman theme song. Please enjoy this SUPER (hah!) quick sketch. I said enjoy! Enjoy!!!

Beautiful girl

This one is for my friend Danni--who created in a few minutes one of the most simple, elegant, beautiful drawings I've seen in a while. See it here.I wish I could draw like her. Instead, here's my pathetic imitation.

How was this guy still alive?!?

My lunchtime memory sketch. Today we saw the oldest chinese man I've ever seen. I took a little extra time on this one cause his face had to be seen to be believed. He looked like a corpse. No joke. Anyway-hope you like it. (this guy probably died in the time it took me to draw this, so my condolences to his family)

Spider kid

Hey folks- back with another lunchtime memory sketch. Today I saw a little kid running around, wearing a cheap looking Spidey mask slapping water out of a fountain.'s ya go. Super quick style.

The Blue Bag

Hey guys- another lunchtime memory sketch. Today we couldn't find anyone interesting to draw so we just picked a girl walking in front of us with a Ginormous blue bag. Never got to see her face-but tried to give a sense of motion and color with this drawing-not anatomical accuracy. (Drawn in about 4-5 minutes)

Sweaty Business Man

Hey gang! This here is a super fast 5 minute memory sketch of this fat sweaty Drew Carey looking dude we saw outside of NeoPets. So the game is, a few of us artists see a person on the street during our lunch break, then we go inside and draw them. Unfortunately, you only see them for a second, so the drawings aren't ever very literal-just an impression of what the person looked like. If you want to see other people's interpretations of this guy- go here. Hope ya like!

Cute 'lil girl

Here's a character design for a project I'm kinda thinking about. It's kind of top secret for now, but I'll let out new characters soon... hope ya like!

I'm Old

Today is July 20th 2007 and today I'll be celebrating my 30th birthday. Holy Crap. It seems like just yesterday I was spending the weekends reading comics, playing with Star Wars toys, and drawing cartoons. Actually, that WAS yesterday. Viva la progress!
PS. What you are looking at is a handmade book I made at about age 3-4. Amazing how 27 years later my tastes are pretty much the same.

Links a Poppin!

From now on-- you can view my art at Deviant Art here. It's an easy gallery link, so you don't have to search the archives of this blog for all your favorite Star Wars Bubbleheads.

Also, I'll be posting on an artist community blog called 7 Days of Sketching. I'm a bit humbled by the amazing talent of the artists that already post there, but I'll be throwing in my 2 cents from time to time. By the way, the pic you see is of caracature of a Nut Vendor(seriously!) selling his wares outside the NeoPet studios. A couple of friends and I decided to characature him here and here.

Scary Cat

This piece is my very first digital painting, done for my good buddy Joseph's birthday the other day. Cat in the Hat is one of our most loathed movies. It's deeply offensive on so many levels, not the least of which is that it's not funny for a second. Mainly it's just creepy. Very, very creepy.

Anyway, sorry I've been neglecting my blogging duties. In case you're wondering where I've been, I got hired at a company called NeoPets, which is this online/children's/game/customizable pet/thing. It's got a pretty big following, and for the last month I've been doing prop design. It's a pretty sweet gig, and they're keeping me really busy. So, I apologize for the artistic slowdown, but stay posted...more stuff is on it's way.
